Can we die to all things gathered?
Public Talk 1
Disorder and relationship
Public Talk 1 New York, New York State
April 20, 1974
To look at disorder, you have first to be free to observe. Disorder implies conflict. Can you observe disorder without the observer? The very observer is disorder and has created it. Can we look at disorder, not as an outsider looking in? What does it mean to respond wholly in relationship? What takes place when there is no image between you and me? Questions from the audience followed the talk
Public Talk 2
Can knowledge and freedom live harmoniously?
Public Talk 2 New York, New York State
April 21, 1974
Can thought give security? Knowledge is always in the past. Thought has invested security in the thinker; the thinker is the product of thought. A mind that is frightened consciously or unconsciously cannot understand what love is or come upon that which is not measurable. In analysis, there is no action. What is the origin of fear? Freedom from knowledge and operating in knowledge can take place only when there is intelligence. Questions from the audience followed the talk
Public Talk 3
Love, living and dying
Public Talk 3 New York, New York State
April 27, 1974
What is our life as it is lived daily all about? Can one be choicelessly aware of what is going on inwardly and outwardly? What will make one change? Mechanical pleasure has become extraordinarily vital in our life. Block it, and you become violent or angry. Love is not pleasure. If I know how to live it means I know how to die. It may be that love is as strong as death, and to love one must die. Questions from the audience followed the talk
Public Talk 4
Meditation is the whole of life
Public Talk 4 New York, New York State
April 28, 1974
In meditation there is no authority; the mind must be completely free to examine, observe and learn. Belief and faith have no place in meditation. Meditation demands a mind that is not caught in any system, however pleasing or desirable. Intelligence is above and beyond violence and aggression. What is the place of thought in meditation? The understanding of ‘what is’ does not need time. Can the mind be free from all occupation? Can consciousness be empty of its content? Questions from the audience followed the talk
